Our History… 

   Grace Bible Church (GBC) was birthed by God in the heart of Dave Mikulsky nearly a decade ago after he moved to Mitchell, In. from California with His wife Carol and three children Carly, Janette and David.

   The desire began to take shape with the start of a home bible study and three families early in 2002. That home study grew into a full fledged church (under the oversight of GBC, Ca.) and in September of 2003
GBC, In was officially incorporated.

   Over the years we have met in a number of locations including the foyer of a business office, a Christian coffee house, Burris Elementary School and a local church which allowed the use of their facilities. God’s leading and provision was clearly seen each step of the way.

   By the blessing of God the church continued to grow and so, in early 2006 it became clear that it was time for us to have a building of our own. Through much prayer and planning the construction project was finally completed and in March of 2007 GBC moved into their own facilities!

   The new building provides us a place from which to worship our Lord, build up God’s people and reach our community and beyond with the life changing Gospel of Jesus Christ.

   As a church we know that it is God’s “grace that has brought us safe thus far…” and we also know that it is God’s “grace that will lead us home!” To Him be all the glory and honor for the great things He has done, is doing and will do… 

Some of our passions…

In alphabetical order

• Children: From our very beginning we have had a passion to train up the next generation for the gospel of Christ. Kids are a big deal to us!
• Discipleship: We are committed to growing God’s people through practical application of God’s word. One way is through our two-year Discipleship Training Program is designed to raise up future leaders for Christ’s church and even future church planters.
• Expositional Preaching: This means that our Pastor teaches verse by verse through entire books of the bible explaining what each verse means and its application to our lives (no skipping the tough stuff)
• Fellowship: We enjoy being together as a church family. This means we spend time together in Grace Groups (home fellowships), Women’s and Men’s meetings, retreats, picnics and a lot more.
• Missions: We are committed to being apart of God reaching the nations with the gospel of Christ. We currently support missionaries in China, Mexico, Indiana and in Lawrence County…we hope to do more!
• Reformation: To reclaim the central tenets of the Protestant Reformation with a focus on the Five Solas; Sola Scriptura (the authority of God’s word); Solus Christus (Christ centered faith); Sola Gratia (salvation through grace alone); Sola Fide (salvation by faith alone); Soli Deo Gloria (to God alone be the glory).
• Worship: We desire to have a passionate God-centered focus in our worship. Therefore we choose to sing songs that will magnify God not people. This includes a blend of the great hymns of the faith as well as God-centered contemporary music.
